Since 1997, SSCCO has supported the communities of kayunga, kalagi, naggalama, lugazi and nasuuti to have proper water, sanitation and hygiene services focusing on delivering to the poorest and most remote communities.
Water is essential to health and food production. Globally, nearly 2.1 billion people lack access to safe drinking water and proper sanitation in their homes. Coupled with poor hygiene, the lack of adequate water and sanitation is a leading cause of disease and death in Africa. And because Africa’s population is rising at highest rate there is a need for proper sanitation and safe water all over.
Our overall objective is to work with partner organizations and key stakeholders to achieve increasing access to sustainable safe drinking water and sanitation services and promoting key hygiene behaviors; protecting fresh water resources.
